After achieving 50,000 subscribers about 1 1/2 month after uploading her first video, she appeared in a game video made by PewDiePie. Taylor's Youtube channel reached 100,000 subscribers in 2 years. Taylor ceased to produce videos and put them on the internet in private. The main reason was technical difficulties, brand new equipment malfunctions, and the fact that she felt overwhelmed by her popularity. Following a break of a few days and a brief break, she began making video. The most watched ASMR triggers was ASMR 10 Triggers That aid in falling asleep (35 million views by August 2022). The video was posted ASMR 20 triggers that assist you in your sleep on July 2017. (38 million views as of August 2022). In August 2017, she was interviewed in Shane Dawson's video. Shortly after, she hit 1 million YouTube users. Wired UK estimates that her YouTube advertising revenues were $1,000 each week from February to March 2019.

Helfer was born in rural Donalda, Alberta, Canada in Canada, the children of Dennis Helfer and Elaine Helfer. Her parents are from German and English heritage. She attended William E. Hay Composite High School situated in Stettler. She had three sisters. Tammy, Tara, and Trena also worked with her at the farm where she worked on her grain. When she was 17 a modeling scout of an agency came across Helfer as she waited in line to enter the cinema.
